This piece, once it sinks in, hits home and hits hard. Although this is just my interpretation, I feel that the girl is finding an inner light, almost angelic, even in the midst of losing her eyesight (which seems to have been brutally taken away from her through the depiction of the blood streaming down and through the blindfold). The softness of the feather touching her shoulder seems to enhance this idea of a delicate inner reserve that is both graceful and fragile. It really touches me. Wonderful job.
